Hi dear ones,
Emily here, reporting from my couch. The surgery went smoothly today – no complications and Dr. Lee was thrilled with the results. I was in the OR for about an hour and a half, and then in recovery for a couple more. Once I was able to eat some jello and crackers, take my meds and go to the bathroom, they sent me home.
There were several great blessings during this process that I hope encourage you as they did me!
*I was born with a cyst behind my blind eye, and the doctors have never fully known how big it was. So, when Dr Lee went to remove it today along with the eye, we discovered that it was the same size as my small eye, which allowed my eye socket to fully form, thus saving me from several reconstruction surgeries as a youngster!
*They gave me several different meds to help with the anesthesia, and I made it all the way home without getting sick. I started feeling a little woozy as I came in the apartment, and ended up throwing up just a little bit, but it was way better than it has been in the past!!
* 6 of the 7 muscles in my eye socket were present and able to be attached to the implant, which will help me be able to still move the implant
*People all over the country and the world have been emailing, texting and facebooking to let us know that they are praying and thinking of me and my family today. What a fantastic blessing and privilege!!
Ok. My energy is fading and my eyes are closing on me, so I will sign off for now and will write again soon!! Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement. I love you!
